Piquet is the old French two-hand card duel against the Elder: exchange with the talon, then score the point, the sequences, and the sets before a card is led. Play solo, or take a seat at a live, rated table. Free in your browser, no ads, no sign-up.

How to play

From a thirty-two card pack you each hold twelve, with eight in the talon between you. The elder throws away up to five cards and draws as many; the younger takes what is left. Then declare: the longest suit is the point, the best run scores its sequence, and three or four alike score a set. Play the tricks for the cards, dare the capot of all twelve, and beware the rubicon, which doubles the loss of a player left short of a hundred over the six deals.

Tips

Keep your longest suit for the point and guard your aces through the exchange. When you fall behind, play for cards and tricks to climb clear of the rubicon, since sinking below a hundred is ruinous.
