The testimonies
Sworn fair: every case is provable from the testimonies alone. No guessing, ever.
The ledger
Tap a cell once for ✕ cannot be, twice for must be. Tap a testimony to strike it through.
About Inquest
Inquest is a nightly whodunit of pure deduction: read the testimonies, work the ledger grid, and name who took what from where. Every case is proved fair before it is printed, solvable with no guessing at all. Free in your browser, no ads, no sign-up.
How to play
Each villager carried one curio and kept to one place, and the clues tell you how they connect. Mark the grid with an X where a pairing cannot be and a seal where it must be, then carry each certainty across the rows. When you know who stood where the theft happened, press the scales and accuse.
Controls
- Tap or click a grid cellCycle it between blank, X, and a seal
- Press the scalesAccuse once the case is solved
Tips
When a row holds three X marks, the fourth cell is certain, so seal it. Every seal carries across: whatever is true of the villager is true of their curio and their place, and that ripples through the whole grid.
