About Ludo

Ludo is the family form of the old Indian race game pachisi, played two-handed against the Chapman on the classic cross: four tokens each, a die, fifty-two squares of shared road, and the long walk home. Enter on a six, race the loop, knock him back to his yard where the road allows, and bring all four home on exact throws. Play solo, or take a seat at a live, rated table. Free in your browser, no ads, no sign-up.

How to play

Throw the die, then choose which token moves. A six brings a token out of the yard onto your start, and throws again; three sixes running void the third. Landing on a foe sends him back to his yard, except on the eight safe squares. After the full loop your tokens climb their home column, and the last step home must be exact. First to bring all four home wins.

Tips

Bring tokens out early: one runner alone is a target and a stalled yard wastes sixes. Count the six squares behind every landing, rest on the safe squares, and spend big throws on the token the Chapman is hunting.
