About Gloaming

Gloaming is a tower defense where light is the whole economy. The field lies dark; wards only strike at what stands in lit ground, and a ward standing in darkness sleeps. Lanterns buy the light, the shades drain it back out of them, and devourers carry a gloom that shrinks every light nearby. Every night is the same night, so the community board compares like with like. Free in your browser, no ads, no sign-up.

How to play

Arm a piece from the bar, then tap the dark field to set it. Build lanterns first, wards and censers inside their glow, and keep the pools linked down the road. A shade that reaches a lantern gutters it in a breath or two; a guttered light relights for half its price. From wave six the pharos casts a great light that slowly burns whatever stands in it. Ten embers keep the hearth; when the last goes out, the night ends.

Tips

Light is territory: a lantern set a step back from the road keeps its glass out of reach while its glow still covers the cobbles. Overlap your pools so no dark seam splits them, and walk your eye down the road before each horn asking where a light could gutter. Sell nothing in a panic; relighting is always cheaper.
