About Chess
Chess against the Bishop is the royal game in full, played on a board of parchment and ink. Pick your color and one of three strengths, from a patient novice to the Bishop himself, who reads five moves deep and does not forgive. Play solo, or take a seat at a live, rated table. Free in your browser, no ads, no sign-up.
How to play
Standard chess with nothing left out: castling, en passant, promotion, and draws by the fifty-move rule, threefold repetition, or bare kings. Tap a piece to light its legal moves, then tap a square to move there. Deliver checkmate to win. Take it back undoes your last move and the Bishop’s reply, without judgment.

Tips
The novice hangs pieces and can be punished freely; the Bishop pounces on a single loose move. Hold the center, castle early to tuck your king away, and count defenders before every trade.
